アビシニアンは、家猫の中で最も古い種類のひとつとされていますが、実はその歴史や原産国は定かではないんです。アビシニアンは、1本1本の毛が2～3色に染まった独特の模様をしていますが、その模様が古代エジプトの壁画に登場する猫にもあるので、当時から飼い続けられてきたと言われています。風貌はとても優雅で野性味溢れていますが、そんな外見とは裏腹にとっても甘えん坊。人といるのが大好きで、一緒にいる時間が長いほど懐き、飼い主の後をずっとついて回ったりする、犬みたいな猫としても知られています。

While Abyssinian cat are some of the oldest members of the cat families, the actual history and country of origin is unclear. Abyssinian cats are unique in the fact that each hair of is 2-3 different colors, but this pattern in present on the ancient Egyptian murals as well, so it is believed passed on from there. While they appear to be elegant and wild, in contrast to their appearance they are actually very spoiled. They love being with people, and the more time they spend with their owner, they will follow them around like a dog.
