毛もヒゲもないツルンとした体と、しわのある小さな顔に大きな耳のスフィンクス。しわがあればあるほど良い猫だとされていて、映画「E.T.」のモデルになったとも言われています。しかし、実際は短くて柔らかい産毛が体中を覆っているので、外見とは裏腹にスエードのような触り心地です。それでも無毛に近いのは間違いないので、怪我をしないように室内で飼う必要があるし、しわの間の汚れを落とす手間もあります。しかし、好奇心旺盛で遊び好きな一面と、お利口さんで愛情深い一面もあわせ持っているので、人気の高い猫ちゃんなんです。
