猫ちゃんたちはいろんな姿で座りますが、その座り方にも呼び名があるようです。手足を体の下にしまいこんで地面にお腹をつける座り方を「箱座り」や「香箱を作る」と呼んだりします。この座り方、猫にとってはとっさに動ける体勢ではないので、リラックスしているときにするそうです。また、お尻をついて足を広げたまま座るのは「スコ座り」と呼ばれています。この座り方は、<a href="/category/photo/KIND/35/">スコティッシュフォールド</a>がよくやっている座り方なので、そこから命名されました。この人間っぽい座り方が非常に人気で、「スコ座り」のフォトコンテストが開催されたこともあるほどです。

Another way of sitting is sit on their tails, with their legs spread. This is called “Scottish sitting”. <a href="/category/photo/KIND/35/">Scottish Folds</a> sit like this often, and so it started to be called Scottish sitting. This human-like way of sitting is incredibly popular, and “Scottish sitting” photo contests have been held.
