オッドアイとは、左右で瞳の色が違う珍しい猫ちゃんを指します。どんな猫の種類でもオッドアイは存在しますが、特に白猫に多いです。目の色の組み合わせは、片方がブルーで、もう片方が黄色、橙色、茶色、緑色のどれかであることが一般的。しかし、一方が黄色で、他方が黄みのない淡いシルバーかブルーの場合があり、その組み合わせは「金目銀目（きんめぎんめ）」と呼ばれ、日本では縁起の良いものとされてきました。

The general combination of eye colors are one eye being blue, while the other eye is yellow, orange, brown, or green. However, when one is yellow, and the other is yellowish faint silver or blue, this combination is called “gold eye silver eye”, and is considered very lucky in Japan.
