老猫の定義は特にありませんが、だいたい11歳くらいを目安にしているようです。もちろん、実年齢よりも若々しい猫もいるので、11歳を超えた猫がすべて老猫とはいえません。しかし、毛の艶や量が減ってきたり、食欲がなくなってきた、目の輝きも失せてきたなどの老化現象が始まってきたら、より長生きしてもらうためにも、消化の良い食事に変えてあげたり、床などの段差を少なくしてあげるなど、老猫が住み易い環境に整えてあげることが大切です。
